INTERACTIVE MODEL FOR SOUTHBANK CENTRE, FESTIVAL WING EXHIBITION

Amy Whitworth, from Qubis Design was asked to design an interactive model of the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Hayward Gallery as part of the exhibition showing the new plans for the site. The new proposals for the ’Festival Wing’ were launch last month and have had a great response from both the press and public. (www.thefestivalwing.com)

The model was commissioned by the Southbank Centre to offer visitors to the exhibition a playful view of the site and to help visualise the proposed designs by Architecture firm Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios.

Handcrafted pieces of oak with magnets inserted have been made to represent some of the features of the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Hayward gallery. These blocks can be ‘played with, moved around and rearranged’ There are also Magnetic Building Blocks (taken form the Qubis Magnetic Building Block Range) around the steel walkway area allowing visitors to make their own sculptures and creations.
